First off, hi! Thank you for being here, spending a bit of your limited time to check out my work. It means a lot, and I will strive to make this visit worth your while, wherever your interests may lie.

I am Aurélien Buchatz, a thirty-something man, born and raised in France, who has been calling Frankfurt am Main home for the better part of a decade.

Throughout my life I have felt inexorably pulled towards writing, yet looming self-esteem issues prevented me from giving it the time and effort I’d have wanted to dedicate to the craft.

I’d love to tell you these issues are dealt with, cast away never to resurface again, but that would be fantasy. Instead I will keep on facing them, only in writing this time.

And writing I shall!

Having spent the last three decades voraciously reading, watching, appreciating, being moved by, striving to understand, obsessing over Art in all its myriad forms, I am now bursting at the seams with a deep love I simply have to share with you, O inquisitive reader, my mirror, my kin.

You will find here essays and reviews on the art that has moved me; from manga, YouTube channels, articles, artbooks, artists, and comics, to novels (my one true love) and everything in between, but also fragments of my own fiction, alongside non-fictional works and reflections. All of them earnest records of a life enthralled by stories and the lessons on humanity they embody; dialogues I wish to bring you, in hopes of enriching your life in whichever small capacity I can muster.

As we are both stranded on these shores of the river Styx, bidding our time until we pay Charon his obol to carry us downstream, let us celebrate what makes this life so unique, its joys, sorrows, and its glorious, complex multitude I wish above all else to convey.
